Fort Churchill, Nevada State Park

Located 8 miles south of Silver Springs in the Nevada desert is a place called Fort Churchill State Park. This U.S. army fort was built in 1861 for the early settlers, and it guarded the Pony Express run and other mail routes. The fort was abandoned 9 years later.
