Southampton, England - The Bargate

This is the Bargate in Southampton, England. See the map below for the location of Southampton; “X” marks the spot. The Bargate was the entrance to Southampton when the town was surrounded by a wall. In the 12th century this entrance was a single round archway. In the 13th century, the two round towers were added. In the 15th century the north front was extended.
