Old Washoe Club, Virginia City, Nevada (NV)

After the Great Fire of 1875, the Old Washoe Club was relocated and became known as “The Millionaire’s Club”, a member’s only establishment. Some of the prominent members and guests included General Sheridan, General and former president U.S. Grant, inventor Thomas A. Edison, General Sherman, actors Edwin Boothe and Lawrence Barrett, author Mark Twain, mining tycoons James G. Fair, John Mackay, and many more. The lower floor of the Club is open to the public. At the back of the Club is a spiral staircase that was featured in Ripley’s Believe-It-or-Not as being the longest of its kind without a supporting pole. Step back in time and visit Virginia City.
