Dead Indian Hill Summit - Wyoming
This is where the Nez Perce, led by Lean Elk and Joseph, escaped from General Howard on September 9, 1877. General Howard was a day behind them. Two miles southeast from here the Nez Perce milled their horses around in every direction to cause confusing tracks. Then they backtracked north to the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River. The plan worked and they escaped.

The population of black tailed prairie dogs in North America has decreased dramatically during the past 100 years. There was once 5 billion of them inhabiting North America. The three main causes of the decline: 99% of their habitat has been lost, large scale poisoning of their colonies, and the introduction of disease from Asia. At Devils Tower National Monument, their population is on the rise.

One of the best dog parks in California is located at Fort Funston in San Francisco, California. The area is also one of the best hang-gliding spots in the United States. Fort Funston is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which is the largest urban National Park in the World.
